GitHub Copilot usage

If your Copilot plan has a monthly allowance of premium requests, TimeTrove can show how much you've used and whether you're on pace to run out before it resets.

Copilot tab showing 37% used, 110 of 300 requests, and 21 points ahead of pace

Set up

  1. In Settings → GitHub, tick Enable Copilot usage tracking.
  2. Set GitHub host to github.com or your Enterprise Cloud host.
  3. Paste an API token: a fine-grained personal access token with the Copilot Requests permission, or an OAuth or gh CLI token.
  4. Set the Copilot poll interval. The default is 30 minutes, and it can be anything from 5 to 120.
  5. Click Test Copilot connection.

TimeTrove reads the same per-user quota that VS Code shows. It never changes anything on GitHub.

Monthly limit override

Your limit normally comes from GitHub. If GitHub doesn't report a usable limit (or reports it as unlimited), enter your allowance in Monthly limit override. Leave it empty to trust GitHub.

On the tracker bar

When tracking is on, a percentage bubble appears to the right of the clock. It turns amber at 75% and red at 90%. Hover it for details, or click it to open the main window.

The Copilot tab

  • Headline figures: percentage used, requests used and remaining, the reset date, your plan and any overage.
  • Month pace: whether you're ahead of or behind an even spread across the month. "21pp ahead" means you've used 21 percentage points less than an even pace would by today.
  • Quota pools: premium requests, chat and completions, each with its own limit or "Unlimited".
  • Pace this month: your actual usage plotted against the even-pace line.
  • Usage over time: requests used and percentage used from every poll, with drops at each monthly reset.
