Tasks
The Tasks tab is where you name, colour, annotate and archive tasks. Most tasks are created on the fly from the switcher; this is where you tidy them up.
The task list
- New task creates a blank task.
- Filter tasks… narrows the list by name.
- Archived shows archived tasks as well as active ones.
- Starred tasks are listed first, then the rest alphabetically.
Editing a task
Select a task to edit it on the right. Click Save to keep changes.
| Field | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Name | What appears in the bar, switcher and timesheet. Keep names unique |
| Colour | Assigned automatically to stand apart from your other tasks. Pick another from the swatch or type a hex value |
| Description | What the task is: scope, links, acceptance criteria |
| Notes | A running scratchpad: next steps, questions, reminders |
| Star (☆ / ★) | Pins the task to the top of the list and the switcher |
Below the fields, Recent booking shows how much time went on the task this week and last week, or when it was last booked.
The buttons at the bottom:
- Save keeps your edits.
- Start begins tracking this task.
- Archive or Unarchive hides the task from the switcher, or brings it back.
Linking a Jira issue
With the Jira integration turned on, each task can be linked to one issue:
- Type the key, for example
TT-211, into Jira issue. - Click Add. TimeTrove fetches the issue and shows a card with its summary, status, assignee, estimate and time logged.
- Click Save. From now on, time on this task is posted to that issue.
When you replace or clear the key, any unsent time is posted to the old issue first. Only work done after the change goes to the new one.
Archiving
Archive tasks you've finished with. Archived tasks:
- don't appear in the switcher or the gap prompt's search,
- still appear on timesheets, in Insights and in entries wherever they have time,
- can be unarchived at any time.
