Jira Cloud
Link tasks to Jira issues and TimeTrove posts your tracked time to them as worklogs. You keep tracking the way you always do, and Jira stays up to date.
Set up
- Create an API token at id.atlassian.com.
- In Settings → Jira Cloud, tick Enable Jira worklog sync.
- Enter your Site URL (for example
https://your-org.atlassian.net), your Atlassian Email and the API token. - If your network needs one, enter an HTTP Proxy URL, such as
http://host:port. - Click Test connection. It saves your settings and checks that Jira accepts them.
Only Jira Cloud with an API token is supported. Jira Server and Data Center are not.
Link a task to an issue
There are two ways:
- From the Tasks tab: type the key into Jira issue, click Add to fetch and check it, then Save. See Tasks.
- From the switcher: while tracking, open the switcher, press Ctrl+Tab to reach Link Jira, and pick one of your open assigned issues.
A task has one active issue at a time. When a task is linked, the tracker bar shows a Jira icon; click it to open the issue.
When time is posted
TimeTrove posts any time that hasn't been sent yet:
- every hour while the app is running,
- when you stop tracking,
- when you switch to another task.
It keeps a record of how much it has already posted to each issue, so time is never posted twice.
Changing the issue on a task
When you replace or clear a task's issue:
- Any unsent time is posted to the old issue.
- The old issue moves to Previous tickets, with the time TimeTrove booked to it.
- Only work from that point on goes to the new issue.
The Jira tab
The Jira tab lists your open assigned issues alongside the TimeTrove tasks they're linked to:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Estimate | The issue's original estimate |
| TimeTrove | Time TimeTrove has booked to the issue |
| Jira spent | Total time logged on the issue in Jira, by anyone |
| % | TimeTrove time as a share of the estimate, or Jira time for issues not linked to a task |
| Task | The linked TimeTrove task |
Click ↗ to open an issue in your browser. Hours by issue compares TimeTrove and Jira time, and By status shows how your assigned work is spread across statuses. Click Refresh to reload from Jira.
Limits
- TimeTrove only adds worklogs. If you shorten or delete time locally after it was posted, edit the worklog in Jira yourself.
- Changes made in Jira are not pulled back into TimeTrove.
