The tracker bar
The tracker bar is a small window that stays on top of everything else, so you always know what you're timing and how much you've done today.
What it shows
| State | Looks like |
|---|---|
| Tracking | The task's colour dot pulses, followed by the task name and today's total |
| Not tracking | No colour, and the words Not tracking |
| Goal reached | Today's total turns from teal to gold |
| Snoozing | A small zᴢ mark after the task name (see Snooze) |
Today's total is shown as HH:MM by default. Turn on Show seconds on tracker in Settings for a live HH:MM:SS clock.
Controls
- Click the clock to open the task switcher.
- Hover the bar to reveal a stop button to the left of the clock.
- Click the Jira icon (shown when the task is linked to an issue) to open that issue in your browser.
- Click the Copilot percentage (when Copilot tracking is on) to open the main window.
- Drag the bar to move it.
With Copilot tracking on, a usage bubble appears to the right of the clock. It turns amber at 75% and red at 90% of your monthly allowance.
Right-click menu
Right-click the bar for:
- Open TimeTrove: show the main window.
- Snooze: 1, 4 or 8 hours, until 17:00, or a custom time. Only shown while tracking. While snoozing, this becomes Exit snooze.
- Always on top: keep the bar above other windows (on by default).
- Reset position: move the bar back to its default spot.
- Close: hide the bar. Bring it back from the tray or menu bar icon.
Windows and macOS
On Windows the bar docks above the taskbar near the system tray. The tray icon offers Show tracker bar, Hide tracker bar, Open TimeTrove and Quit.
On macOS the bar floats and can be dragged anywhere. The menu bar icon has the same options.
The screenshots in these docs were taken on macOS. The Windows docked bar shows the same information.
